Terms of use
Plain terms for using Paisa. The short version: it is a record-keeping tool, it is not a bank, and the numbers in it are only as good as what you put in.
What Paisa is
Paisa records and divides shared expenses, and helps you keep track of what people owe each other. It is a ledger, not a financial institution.
It does not move money, hold money, lend money, or act as an escrow. Where the app helps you get paid back, it does so by generating a standard UPI payment link that the payer's own banking app opens — the transfer happens between two banks, with Paisa nowhere in the middle.
Your account
- You need an accurate email address, and you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Do not share your login. If you want someone to see a group's numbers, invite them or send a share link instead.
- You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
Balances are a record, not a ruling
Every balance, split and simplified debt is arithmetic performed on what you and your group entered. We do not verify that an expense happened, that an amount is right, or that a payment someone marked as sent actually arrived.
Disagreements about who owes what are between you and the people you are splitting with. Paisa is evidence of what was recorded, and nothing more.
Payments
Before confirming any UPI payment, check that your own banking app shows the name you expect. That name check is performed by your bank, not by us, and it is the reliable one.
We are not responsible for a payment sent to the wrong person, for a wrong amount, or for a UPI ID that someone entered incorrectly or changed. Marking something as paid inside Paisa records a claim; it does not prove money moved.
Fair use
- Do not use Paisa for anything unlawful, or to collect money under false pretences.
- Do not upload other people's personal information without a reason to.
- Do not attempt to access groups, ledgers or accounts you were not invited to.
- Do not hammer the service in a way that degrades it for other people.
We may suspend an account that does these things.
Availability and price
Paisa is offered as-is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted service. We take backups and take care, but you should not treat it as your only record of anything that matters financially — export your data periodically.
It currently costs nothing. Optional paid plans for teams and organisations may be introduced later; if that happens you will get notice well beforehand, and the core of what you already use stays generous.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Scriptix Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from using Paisa — including money you sent, money you failed to collect, or decisions taken on the basis of a balance shown in the app.
Changes and contact
If these terms change materially we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you in the app. Questions: get in touch.
